About Yellow Labrador Retriever Puppies
Yellow is one of the three standard Labrador colours, along with black and chocolate. The shade can range from pale cream to a deeper fox red, and it often changes a little as a puppy grows. Colour doesn’t change the breed. A yellow Lab has the same friendly, eager nature as any other Labrador. If you’d like to see how the breed is described by kennel clubs, the American Kennel Club breed page is a good starting point, and the Canadian Kennel Club has information for Canadian owners.
Is a Yellow Lab Right for Your Family?
Labs are social, active, and happiest when they’re part of the household. They love walks, play, and having a job to do, even if that job is carrying a toy from room to room. Puppies have plenty of energy and need patience, training, and regular exercise, so it helps to think honestly about your daily routine before you commit.
If you have questions about a specific puppy’s personality or whether a Lab suits your home, get in touch with us and we’ll help however we can.

Yellow Lab Questions, Answered
What is the temperament of a Labrador Retriever?
Labradors are known for being friendly, outgoing, and eager to please. They usually get along well with children and other pets, though every dog has its own personality, and early socialization makes a big difference.
What’s the difference between a yellow Lab and a Golden Retriever?
They’re two separate breeds. Labs have a short, dense coat and a broad head with an “otter” tail, while Golden Retrievers have longer, feathered fur. Both are family-friendly, but Goldens need more regular brushing.
Is it better to get a male or female Lab?
Neither is better. Males tend to be a bit larger, and individual personality matters more than sex. Meeting the puppy, or asking us about his or her temperament, is the best way to decide.
Are white Labs purebred?
What people call a “white” Lab is usually a very pale yellow Labrador. These dogs are still Labrador Retrievers, and the colour is simply a lighter shade of yellow.
How long do yellow Labs live?
Labrador Retrievers commonly live around 10 to 12 years, depending on genetics, diet, exercise, and regular veterinary care. Keeping your Lab at a healthy weight is one of the most useful things you can do. The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals shares helpful information on joint and hereditary health in dogs.
How much does a yellow Lab puppy cost?
Prices vary depending on the puppy, so check the individual puppy page for current pricing. Remember to think beyond the purchase price: food, vet visits, vaccinations, training, and supplies are part of caring for a Lab.
